To achieve sustained growth, the ULVAC Group is committed to building dynamic organizations that empower diverse talent to reach their full potential. We are strengthening our efforts in organizational and talent development, supporting each employee in taking ownership of their career. By identifying and nurturing future leaders, we aim to reinforce our management foundation.
Since fiscal 2019, the ULVAC Group has held UL-GAIA (ULVAC Global Awards of Improved Achievement) annually. At this event, selected employees from regions around the world present how they have put the Basic Management Principles into practice, sharing their initiatives and achievements with others. By recognizing and celebrating these efforts, we foster proactive communication and the integration of diverse perspectives, encouraging the co-creation of new value. Sharing outstanding experiences throughout the Group helps us generate synergies and grow together as a global team.
At ULVAC, we are committed to a balanced and diverse approach to selecting and developing core talent by setting clear guidelines that reflect our workforce composition. We ensure fair evaluation and promotion based on individual abilities, regardless of personal attributes.
To cultivate leaders who can proactively respond to global changes, we offer selective training programs such as the Resilience Program and the Business Concept Enhancement Program. Selected participants, including those from Group companies, join these programs to broaden their perspectives and drive innovation through collaboration with their peers.
ULVAC continuously promotes rank-based training as part of our Group-wide* education system. This includes introductory and on-the-job training for new graduates, training for employees in their second and third years, and programs tailored to internal qualifications and positions. Newly appointed managers undergo approximately one year of training to develop management skills and operational expertise.
* Domestic Group Companies
ULVAC aims to share essential manufacturing technologies and skills across the Group, providing broad opportunities for skill development. Our diverse educational programs―including relearning and knowledge transfer―focus on enhancing technical capabilities through fundamental manufacturing and vacuum technology education.
Specifically, we offer video-based learning through the "ULVAC Academy Portal" and combined classroom and hands-on training in vacuum basics at the Susono Training Center for new graduates and mid-career hires. Additionally, we provide courses on ULVAC's history, culture, and management strategy for trainees from both domestic and overseas Group companies, thereby promoting global talent exchange.
At ULVAC, we provide administrative staff with a step-by-step education program designed to help them acquire and solidify essential foundational knowledge. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including economic and business trends, company policies, accounting, taxation, labor, and corporate governance. This program enables employees to plan their next career steps and encourages self-directed learning and growth. Starting in fiscal 2024, the program will be expanded to all employees, further enhancing our organizational learning environment and foundation.
ULVAC actively promotes talent rotation between its Head Office and overseas Group companies to foster employees with diverse experiences. In addition, through secondments to external companies and by welcoming talent from outside organizations, we are expanding our human networks and accelerating innovation through technical exchanges. These initiatives enhance the quality of our human capital and contribute to strengthening our corporate competitiveness.
The ULVAC Group offers the "ULVAC Academy Portal," a video learning platform that supports individual employee growth. We implement blended learning by combining online and group training. This approach fosters autonomous learning among employees.
The system is designed to flexibly accommodate an increasing number of career hires and inter-group rotations, while continuously strengthening and standardizing education across the Group. Currently, approximately 6,000 employees are registered, with access to about 2,500 learning resources in five languages: Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean.
Since fiscal 2024, ULVAC has published the "Career Design Book" on its internal portal to support employees in proactively shaping their careers. The book provides a clear overview of our basic talent development policies, internal qualification criteria, job descriptions, education systems, and HR programs that support work-life balance, such as telecommuting and childcare leave. Employees can use this resource as a guide when planning their career paths.
In addition, printed versions are distributed to new graduates, their supervisors, and mentors to deepen understanding of development policies and systems. The booklet serves as a useful tool that can be referenced as needed, helping to foster early awareness of career autonomy.
At ULVAC, we are committed to creating an environment where each employee can fully utilize their abilities and expertise. To achieve this, we conduct fair and transparent annual personnel evaluations. At the beginning of each term, clear individual goals are set for every employee, and at the end of the term, achievement levels are assessed and feedback is provided. For executives, performance-based evaluations are also incorporated. Through this process, we encourage self-development among employees and foster an environment that supports effective organizational growth.
