ULVAC Health Management Declaration

The ULVAC Group celebrated its 70th anniversary on August, 2022.
Taking the opportunity of this anniversary, we have formulated "Vision 2032," which is to "Continue to Be a 'Field of Potentiality' for the Future."
This is a vision that we would like to share not only with ourselves but with everyone associated with ULVAC over the next 10 years.
In the midst of drastic changes in the environment surrounding companies and individuals, I hope that each one of you will step out of conventional boundaries, make proposals and challenges for growth.
In the belief that it is our human resources that will realize "Vision 2032" and that it is their health and families that will support them, we will continue to promote health management as an important management priority for realizing sustained growth and enhancement of corporate value.

Setsuo Iwashita
President and Chief Executive Officer

Promotion of Health and Productivity Management

At ULVAC, we believe that our people are the key to realizing Vision 2032's goal of remaining a "Field of Potentiality" for the future, and that their health and family support are essential to this vision. Based on this belief, we promote health and productivity management as a core management theme.
The president, executive officer in charge of health promotion, general manager of the Personnel Department, occupational health physicians, public health nurses, and health insurance association staff work together to advance health initiatives. These include regular health checkups, stress checks, face-to-face guidance by occupational health physicians for employees working long hours, reduction of health risks, and support for balancing medical treatment and work.

Enhancing Work Engagement

  • ULVAC has set a goal to increase work engagement by more than 10% by fiscal year 2025 compared to fiscal year 2021. Although ULVAC's work engagement scores have remained above the national average in Japan*1, they declined by 4% in fiscal year 2024 compared to fiscal year 2021*2.
To overcome this challenge, ULVAC has identified building a resilient organization as a key materiality priority. The company's leadership is actively driving change by introducing a "Resilience Program," which aims to cultivate habits that improve physical, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual well-being.
As part of this effort, ULVAC launched a "Case Study Meeting," where members openly discuss their most difficult experiences with a strong sense of ownership. This initiative has strengthened integration among management and has since expanded to encourage dialogue among employees, gradually becoming more active.
Moving forward, the ULVAC Group will continue to implement initiatives to enhance work engagement across the entire organization.

Reducing Health Risks

  • ULVAC has set a goal to reduce the gap between employees' health age*1 and their actual age to at least -1.5 years by fiscal year 2025.
Currently, we offer a variety of online education programs covering topics such as long working hours, nutrition, women's health, and preparation for health checkups. Additionally, we provide support for climate change adaptation, including heatstroke prevention education.
To encourage physical activity, all ULVAC employees*2 participate in walking initiatives through the healthcare platform "Pep Up," which promotes daily movement and overall wellness.
In fiscal year 2024, the average difference between health age and actual age was -0.8 years―better than the national average―and has remained stable since fiscal year 2023.
Moving forward, we will continue to implement measures to reduce health risks, including expanding exercise programs and other wellness initiatives.
