Ulvac,Inc.(Headquarter in Hagizono, Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture,President and Chief Executive Officer; Setsuo Iwashita, hereinafter referred to as "ULVAC") has proposed its "Lithium Metal Anode Production Technology" (hereinafter referred to as "the Project") to the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (hereinafter referred to as "NEDO") for the "Green Innovation Fund Project / Development of Next-generation Storage Battery and Next-generation Motors. The project was selected by NEDO for the "Development of Material Technologies for Next-Generation Storage Batteries" under the "High-Performance Storage Batteries and Storage Battery Materials" category of the project.
In the Green Innovation Fund Project, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has created a total of 2 trillion yen in funds for NEDO to support companies and other organizations that share ambitious and specific goals and address them for 10 years, from research and development and demonstration to social implementation.
Toward the social implementation of high-energy density storage batteries with lithium metal anode, we will develop production technology for lithium metal anode by applying vacuum technology, which is one of our strengths. In collaboration with component manufacturers, film processors, and others, we will provide equipment capable of producing thin-film, high-purity lithium anode at low cost through the deposition technology of our roll-to-roll vacuum lithium deposition equipment for mass production, which will help reduce the size and capacity of storage batteries and reduce GHG emissions.
