ULVAC Signed the Agreement to Join the United Nations Global Compact

ULVAC, Inc. announced that we have signed the agreement to join "United Nations Global Compact" (UNGC), which is advocated by the United Nations, and has been registered as a participating company on 15 September, 2021. At the same time, we joined the "Global Compact Network Japan", which is composed of Japanese member companies and organizations of the UNGC.

The "United Nations Global Compact", launched at the United Nations Headquarters in 2000, is an international initiative that encourages companies and organizations to as a valued members of society by demonstrating responsible and creative leadership, and to achieve reliable globalization and the development of sustainable society. The UNGC has over 18,000 corporate and non-corporate members worldwide. Participating companies and organizations are expected to support and continue to make effort towards The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, which are relevant to protecting "human rights", "eliminating unreasonable labour", "addressing environmental concerns "and "preventing corruption".

The ULVAC Group has formulated a sustainability policy based on the basic management philosophy of "to contribute to the development of industries and science by comprehensively utilizing its vacuum and peripheral technologies," and has been working to realize a safer, more secure, and affluent society by providing value through "vacuum technology", a fundamental technology essential to people's lives.
By signing the Agreement to join the UNGC this time, we will comply with and implement The Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact, further promote responsible management as a global company, and continue to contribute to solving major social and environmental issues together with our customers.

【Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact】

<Human Rights>

Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

<Labour>

Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

<Environment>

Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

<Anti-Corruption>

Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
