We are bound to promote strict compliance with corporate ethics and legislation to not only further drive a fairer and more transparent corporate management, but also to develop the ULVAL Group and educate all directors and employees.
As the risk management Regulations covering the entire ULVAL Group, we established the "Risk Management Regulations" (in February, 2004) and have continuously expanded them. Among them, for the risks regarding compliance, "Compliance Regulations" are defined as comprehensive Regulations and are fully covered by the "Compliance Committee Regulations," "Internal Reporting Regulations" and "Internal Reporting Hearing Procedures." We observe these regulations when conducting our education and audits.
In addition, in terms of corporate governance, the ULVAC Group also defines the "Corporate Code of Conduct" as the descriptions of specific philosophies for our employees. (Clicking the underlined phrase opens a detailed document.)
Education for employees
Corporate Code of Conduct
The "Corporate Code of Conduct" is a guideline used by the employees to ask themselves if they "contribute to our customers," "are correct in accordance with the legislation and social philosophies," and "do not abuse human rights."
This code describes and declares 18 key areas regarding "business activities," "corporation-to-employee relationships," "corporation-to-society relationships" and "directors and employees themselves." It is distributed to all the employees in our group companies throughout the world, concerning observation of corporate ethics and legislation.

Internal Reporting System
The ULVAC internal compliance advisory board is responsible for accepting internal reports on the violations of compliance obligations and responsibilities that occur within the ULVAL Group. All interested persons conduct investigations of the reported issue with a duty to protect privileged information and guarantee that the reporter will not be handled prejudicially. With such efforts, we strive to maintain a system that further promotes the exercise of fair and appropriate job duties.
Personal Information Protection
Regarding information management, we established in November 2005 a series of Regulations such as the "ULVAC Group Information Management Regulations" that control the entire ULVAC Group and the "Information Security Basic Regulations" that control ULVAC, Inc. These Regulations help us promote a fully-fledged information management and comply with legislation such as the Unfair Competition Prevention Law, as well as avoid harmful results such as loss of the relationship with our business connections due to problems like divulging of information or breach of privacy, which results in loss of our social credibility. These Regulations allow us to check and verify the internal information flow across the group, and thus, perform permanent risk analysis and avoidances.
